
Dr Anita Balakrishnan
Anita Balakrishnan is a Consultant Hepatopancreatobiliary (HPB) Surgeon at the Cambridge Hepatopancreatobiliary Unit and Associate Lecturer at the University of Cambridge. Her academic research interest focuses on the investigation of the evolution of pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma and the genomic evolution of intraductal papillary mucinous neoplasms. She is Chief Investigator of the multicenter Pancreatic Cyst Evaluation (PaCE) study, evaluating molecular biomarkers to risk stratify pancreatic cystic lesions, and leads an international study on the Operative Management of Early Gallbladder Cancer (OMEGA). She was awarded the Hunterian Professorship by the Royal College of Surgeons of England for her PhD research carried out at Harvard Medical School. She sits on the Scientific and Research Committee of the EAHPBA and is a Regional Surgical Advisor for the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh.
