Situated 12 kilometres outside the city, Bilbao international airport known as “La Paloma” is the air transport hub for Spain’s northern peninsula, with flights to the main Spanish cities and major European destinations, served by major airlines as well as low-cost companies

The airport connects Bilbao with European cities such as Amsterdam, Brussels, Dublin, Dusseldorf, Frankfurt, Istanbul, Lisbon, London, Milan, Munich, Paris, Rome, Stuttgart, Venice, Zurich and with main Spanish cities such as Alicante, Barcelona, Madrid, Málaga, Santiago de Compostela, Seville and Valencia.

Airport-City connection

The airport is linked to the city by the A3247 bus route, which goes to the Intermodal Station and has stops in Moyúa Square, in Gran Vía 79 and in Alameda Rekalde 11. Tickets can be purchased at the ticket office on the arrivals floor (exit the terminal building, walk to your right) or in the bus. A single ticket costs €3 (€ 1,14 with a Barik card). From Bilbao, the bus leaves every 15 minutes from 05:15 to 22:00; from the airport, every 15 minutes, from 06:15 to 00:00. Estimated travel time between Bilbao and the airport: 10-15 minutes. 

Femade Auto Taxis Association is the exclusive taxi company at the airport. A taxi to Bilbao costs approximately € 24-29 and the bookings are made via website or calling to +34 944 800 909.

You can also take a taxi directly from the airport to Bilbao, without booking it in advance, with no safety or availability concerns.
